Magic Bullet Denoiser II

While working on re-color correcting the Lamplighter Guild promo, I decided to try out Magic Bullet's Denoiser filter. It did a great job of minimizing noise without compromising the sharpness and details in the clip.

Winner - BEST PROMOTIONAL MEDIA!

The ‘Best Promotional Media’ Award went to The Lamplighter Guild, a 5-minute film that explains the vision of this one-week art school founded by Mark Hamby in which students learn the elements of radio theater production, including voice acting, sound design, script writing, music composition, and more from experts in the industry. Producer Phillip Telfer offered these thoughts on receiving the award.

“John-Clay [Burnett] and I are both very grateful for what Doug Phillips and Vision Forum have done to invest in filmmakers,” Telfer said. “When I was invited to attend the [Christian] Filmmakers Academy back in 2007, I had no provision at all for filmmaking. Last year, John-Clay and I, along with Colin Gunn, had a feature documentary film, Captivated. That opened the door for [us] to take some of the things we have been learning here and share it at Mark Hamby’s Lamplighter Guild. So we talked about it and also took that time to make this promotional.”

In addition to teaching classes during the week about documentary filmmaking, Phillip and I filmed, edited, and presented this promo at the end of the 2012 Lamplighter Guild.

Todd Busteed, Sound Design and Engineering

Todd Busteed Todd Busteed struck fear in the hearts of electronic appliances from an early age. As early as 10 years old, he loved taking TVs apart to see what was inside. Putting them back together? . . . Why do you think he got into radio?

Todd's college education aptly prepared him for the duties that would follow. He graduated with honors from Loyola University with a degree in Psychology. There is no better degree for one who directs drama. It was during these college years that he began his association with Moody Broadcasting, an association that would provide numerous opportunities, experiences, and significant meetings.

Todd's studio, GAP Digital, has been in business since 1980, creating scores of radio dramas, including programs based on such classic stories as Victor Hugo's Les Miserables, C. S. Lewis' Chronicles of Narnia, and George Eliot's Silas Marner. The facility recently finished producing 144 half-hour episodes of a drama series titled Left Behind, based on the best-selling book series of the same name.

Lamplighter Theatre - Recording "A Peep Behind the Scenes"

in March we will be airing the radio drama of one of our best known titles, A Peep Behind the Scenes. But long before the day of the first broadcast, much must be accomplished to get the drama produced. The script must be written, actors need to be hired, the studio needs to be booked, and travel arrangements must be made.

For most of our dramas we head across the Atlantic to record with one of the world’s most talented radio theatre producers, Phillip Glassborrow at SoundHouse Studios, London. In the future, we’ll tell you all about Phillip. But as a precursor to that, I’d like for you to see some of our actors and production staff in action with these “behind the scenes” (pun intended!) videos from the recording sessions for A Peep Behind the Scenes. Enjoy!

Lamplighter Theatre IS HERE!

A while back I posted info that Lamplighter was working on creating "Lamplighter Theater." Well, it is now here! "For twenty years our Lamplighter team has eagerly anticipated the creation of Lamplighter Theatre Audio Drama. We have prayed and planned while waiting for the Lord’s perfect timing. The time has now come."
I can't tell you how incredibly excited I am about this, I greatly enjoy radio drama and I really enjoy Lamplighter's books! They officially started broadcasting to radio stations in Sept, so this is really new stuff. They do have one finished album/"book" entitled "Sr. Malcom and the Missing Prince." Currently they are working on "The Basket of Flowers."

Of course, I have some links where you can get more info:
- You can hear the first episodes on this website. (I am assuming future episodes will be posted here though I'm not sure.)
- Lamplighter Radio Theatre Blog....and Official Website
- Visit the store

I found a place online where you can listen to their weekly broadcast of new episodes. It plays on Mondays @ 6pm ET.

...and "one more thing," according to this link, it looks like they might be venturing into the film making arena as well. I'll do my best to keep you posted!
